2009 Quilt Show
Make Plans!
On March 21-22, 2009, the Southern Comforters will host their annual quilt show at the C. Elizabeth Reig School, Bowie. Based on
our raffle quilt design, our theme for the show is the beach. We will be incorporating the beach idea into many aspects of the show:
decorations, challenge quilts and more. The show will be a bright spot as the dreary days of winter are ending. Please join us.
Hours are Saturday, March 21, from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, March 22, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Directions
are available and parking is free.
A perennial favorite, this quilt show showcases the talents of local quilters. Attendees are invited to vote for their favorites in 10
different categories:
- Large Appliqué (1 person and 2 person)
- Small Appliqué
- Large Pieced (1 person and 2 person)
- Small Pieced
- Art Quilt – an original design
- Novice – made by a person who has been quilting for 3 years or less
- Group Quilt – made by 3 or more people
- Miscellaneous

Featured Quilter
This year's featured quilter is Karen Sim. Karen is from Kansas and learned to quilt from her grandmother.
She has many beautiful quilts to share and will be available for the duration of the show to answer questions
about her quilts and methods. Take advantage of this rare treat to see Karen’s collection including a quilt her
grandmother hand pieced and hand quilted.
Demonstrations
Each hour on the half hour on both Saturday and Sunday, guild members are offering free demonstrations of a variety of techniques and things of interest
to quilters and those who love quilts.
A full printable schedule to carry with you is available. (Check back for it closer to the show date)
Other Events
In addition to the raffle quilt and displays of guild-made quilts, the 2009 Quilt Show will feature a silent auction, raffle
baskets, Keepsakes Korner, various vendors, and ongoing kids activities. Refreshments will also be available for purchase at the school.
