Karen Jurotich, "Red and White Block Exchange"
This quilt resulted from a Guild block exchange in 1997. For years I watched the others complete their quilts in a variety of wonderful settings and designs. I wanted my quilt to be pure red and white. So the blocks spent a lot of time on the display boards until I found an arrangement I liked. The original blocks are in the center star and in the outside corners. I made smaller blocks for the inner border and turned them on point. I added appliqué vines. Fitting all elements together was a challenge for me.
